It’s easy to be grateful when things are going well in your business. We’re quick to express our thanks for things like increased sales, opening a second location, or hiring new employees. But what about during your business slow season?
Here’s something that business owners don’t always talk about: some seasons are just…slow.
No new product launches. No major increase in customers. Sales are about average, or maybe slightly lower. There’s nothing new or exciting to be pumped up about or show gratitude for. Or, so it seems.
But we’re here to show you that there’s always something to be grateful for. So here’s a few ways to choose gratitude during a time when it might seem like there’s no reason to.
Loyal clients are what keep a business going. Even if they’re buying your lowest priced service or your discounted products, that consistency matters. Those customers appreciate who you are and what you do. They’re going to be there for you during the highs and lows, so let them know that you are thankful for their constant support.
You could send them a thank you card or a thoughtful email to let them know that you are grateful for their business. A little goes a long way.
The people you work with are also there for you through the good and bad times. They help you manage the workload during the busy seasons and are there to encourage you through the less busy times. Just like your loyal clients, your team members keep showing up because they believe in you and the great work that you are doing. Give them a shoutout and let them know you’re thankful for all they do.
Also, remember that your team doesn’t just include employees. Your team can be anyone who supports you in your business, like contractors, vendors, lawyers, photographers, accountants and (perhaps most importantly) your family.
A business slow season is a great time to do that hard work on your money mindset. You can start journaling and digging deep on your views around money. Read some money mindset books (find our favorites here) or study our favorite money mantras. We love to take advantage of slowing down by working on our personal growth.
Slow times can be hard, especially if they come after exciting times of growth. A business slow season is a great time to think and reflect though. Since you’re not rushing around to launch a new product or fulfill an overwhelming number of orders, you have time to pause and think about your business. What’s going well? What would you like to see change? Where would you like to see your business a year from now? Journal about it and make plans for reaching those goals.
Tell us we’re not the only ones with those never-ending to-dos we keep putting off. It’s time to tackle the tasks you’ve been avoiding or just couldn’t find time for—because there’s no better moment than now!
So, here’s the takeaway: In business, slow seasons hold just as much value as the busier ones. They give us the chance to step back, recalibrate, and find gratitude in places we might overlook. Each season—whether bustling or quiet—has something meaningful to teach us.
And speaking of gratitude, we want to thank YOU. Thank you for being here, for reading, for supporting our journey, and for believing in what we do. Your trust and encouragement are the heart of everything we create. We couldn’t do this without you, and for that, we’re deeply thankful.
